FIREARMS TRAINING.
START WITH THE FUNDAMENTALS.

You do not need to arrive knowing what to do. Dark Roc trains actors, stunt performers and action performers for firearms work on camera, starting with safe handling and building towards a performance you can repeat.

No experience required

Your first course is a starting point.

Neither Urban Action nor Reel Action requires previous firearms experience. You do not need a military background, a list of credits or an experience history to send us before booking.

The fundamentals are part of the training. Instructors coach you through the work and give you feedback as you practise. If you have trained before, the same work gives you a chance to refine the details and make your performance more consistent.

Training for camera

The job is to deliver the scene: listen to direction, work with the other performers and repeat the action for another take. Handling, movement, character and camera awareness all need to work together.

Dark Roc brings working armourers, stunt and action performers into that process. See Ty Hopkins and Redd Nicholson’s production credits and the roles they held.

Two different course formats

Choose the work you want to develop.

Urban Action

For performers who want to develop movement, physicality and firearms performance in urban and confined-space screen scenarios. The course brings handling and performance together through coached action work.

Choose training only, or add the media package for an edited scene for your showreel.

Reel Action

For actors who want to work with firearms within scripted, dialogue-led scenes. The course gives character, relationships and scene work space alongside the physical demands of handling equipment on camera.

Rehearsal, direction and professional filming are built into the format.

Equipment provided

Training equipment is supplied. Your joining instructions cover the location, timings and practical details. Bring clothing you can move in and your own lunch.

Performance footage

The media package is intended to show your performance within a scene. It gives you material for your showreel; it is not a promise of casting or employment.

Questions before your first course

Do I need to tell you about previous experience?

No. Previous firearms experience is not required and you do not need to submit an experience history before booking.

Are actors welcome on Urban Action?

Yes. Urban Action is for actors, stunt performers and action performers. Choose it if you want to develop the physical action and movement side of screen performance.

Can I train without buying showreel footage?

Yes. Urban Action offers a training-only option. The course page explains the package choices.

Does a course replace the briefing on a production?

No. Each production has its own scenes, equipment and arrangements. Training helps you prepare; you still follow the instructions and briefings given by the production team on the day.

Where can I see the next dates?

The course pages show current availability. When dates are not open, use the enquiry link to ask about the next course.
