MAKE THE ACTION
BELONG IN THE SCENE.

Dark Roc provides firearms and tactical advisory, armoury and performer preparation for film and TV. We bring practical experience to the details an audience sees: how a character carries themselves, moves with others and handles the demands of the scene.

Start with the scene

Advice that serves the production.

A credible action scene depends on more than the equipment in shot. Character, blocking, continuity and the relationship between performers need to make sense together.

We discuss what the scene needs, where advisory input would help and how preparation can fit your schedule. The aim is to give the cast usable direction and help the production make informed choices before the pressure of a shooting day.

Working experience

Ty Hopkins works across production supervision, armoury, tactical advisory and action performance, alongside a real-world close protection background. Redd Nicholson is a working stunt performer, armourer and action advisor.

Their individual credits include Son of the Soil, Heads of State, Missing You and Run Away. The credits page lists who did what.

Where we can contribute.

Preparation

Discuss scenes, character requirements and the practical preparation the cast needs. Identify which parts of the action would benefit from rehearsal and specialist input.

Cast training

Coach performers on handling, movement, camera awareness and repeatable action in the context of the production. Cast members do not need previous firearms experience.

On-set advisory

Support the agreed action and performance requirements during filming, working with the relevant production departments and the direction of the scene.

Advisory and armoury are distinct jobs.

Tactical and performance advice concerns what the action communicates on screen. Armoury is a separate production requirement. Dark Roc works across both areas, but the brief must identify the services, personnel and responsibilities needed for your shoot.

A training course does not replace the production’s own on-set arrangements. We agree the scope with your team rather than assuming that one role covers every requirement.

Production questions

Can you prepare actors who have never handled firearms?

Yes. No previous firearms experience is needed. Preparation starts with the fundamentals and is planned around the performance requirements.

Can you work alongside our stunt and production teams?

Yes. The enquiry should set out the departments already involved and the support you need so responsibilities can be agreed clearly.

Do you work outside North Wales?

Dark Roc is based in North Wales and works across the UK by arrangement. Send your location and dates so we can discuss availability and logistics.

Can we book advisory without a public training course?

Yes. Production advisory and bespoke cast preparation are separate enquiries. Contact the production team directly.

Tell us what you are shooting.
